Recovery Residence Advocacy Program

We assist in the development of recovery residences that emphasize a high standard of living with a family home recovery environment. We testify at zoning hearings in residential communities in the effort to pass variances to zoning codes that prevent recovery homes from operating in residential communities.

Family & COMMUNITY Education Program

THE FAMILY EDUCATION PROGRAM IS A FREE EDUCATION SERIES ON THE CONCEPT OF HOW THE BRAIN DISEASE OF ADDICTION IS BASICALLY AN ALTERATION OF BRAIN FUNCTION.   THIS ALTERATION OCCURS PRIMARILY FROM THE USE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL AND AFFECTS THE WHOLE FAMILY.  WE WILL REVIEW THE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE DISCOVERED OVER YEARS OF RESEARCH THAT IS NOW WIDELY ACCEPTED AS THE DISEASE OF ADDICTION.  WE WILL LOOK AT HOW THESE ALTERATIONS OF BRAIN FUNCTION CAUSE BEHAVIORAL CHANGES IN BOTH THE INDIVIDUAL SUFFERING FROM THE DISEASE AND THE FAMILY MEMBERS AFFECTED BY THESE ALTERATIONS.  WE WILL PRESENT THIS EDUCATION OVER A THREE WEEK SERIES OF TWO HOUR CLASSES STARTING WITH THE BIOLOGY OF ADDICTION MADE SIMPLE THEN LOOK AT THE FAMILY RESPONSE TO THE DISEASE.  WE WILL CONCLUDE THE SERIES WITH IDENTIFICATION OF THE COPING SKILLS NECESSARY FOR THE FAMILY TO DEVELOP A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE THROUGH A RECOVERY PLANNING EXERCISE.

Currently the education program is being revised. We will kick off again in May 2018.

Locations of first presentation and subsequent presentations to be announced in April 2018.
