Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to the questions we hear most. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, please reach out — we’re glad to help.

Our community is designed for women seeking safe, supportive, alcohol- and drug-free housing as they build their recovery. Mothers may apply to live with their children, depending on current family availability. If you are unsure whether you qualify, please reach out — we are happy to talk it through.

Yes — supporting mothers and keeping families together is central to our mission. Family availability changes over time, so please contact us to ask about current openings for mothers with children and any age guidelines that may apply.

No. Stepping Stones Recovery is a supportive sober-living community, not a hospital, medical provider, detox, or treatment center. We do not provide medical care or detox services. When residents need clinical care, we help connect them with trusted outside providers.

Length of stay is individualized and based on each resident’s goals and progress toward independence. Specific guidelines are set by our program and will be shared during the admissions conversation.

Cost and any program-fee details are determined by our organization and will be discussed openly during admissions. We will never hide costs — if you have questions, just ask.

Residents agree to community guidelines that keep everyone safe and support recovery — such as maintaining sobriety, participating in the program, and respecting shared living. Specific expectations are explained clearly before move-in.

Treatment providers, counselors, case managers, healthcare professionals, social-service agencies, and other community partners are all welcome to refer someone. Family members and friends can reach out too. A referral does not guarantee admission.

A move-in checklist will be provided during admissions. In general, residents bring personal items and essentials; we will let you know what is provided and what to bring ahead of time.

Many residents take prescribed medications. Specific medication guidelines are part of our program policies and will be reviewed during the admissions process so everyone is clear and supported.

You can give financially through our Donate page or contribute goods from our wish list. Please contact us before dropping off in-kind donations so we can match them to current needs.

We welcome volunteers and partners. Because we serve women and children, anyone interacting with residents completes a screening and onboarding process. Visit Get Involved or contact us to start.

No. Stepping Stones Recovery is not a faith-based program. We welcome women of all backgrounds and beliefs, and we partner with a wide range of community organizations.

We serve the Central Texas area, but we do not publish the street addresses of our homes in order to protect the safety and privacy of the women and children who live there. We will share what you need to know privately during admissions.

Some answers depend on policies and details our team is still finalizing. Where that is the case, we’ve said so — and we’ll keep this page updated.
